Le Secret du Royaume Perdu: Chapter 2: A princess without a kingdom

Saturday, June 5, 2010

At Alfea, an exceptional occasional prepares. The fairies of the third year will finally recieve their fairy diploma: a stone of harmony.*

Miss Faragonda calmly guides Hagen and Bloom, in her office.

"Tell this young girl about Oritel's sword," Miss Faragonda suggests to Hagen.

The blacksmith sighs:

"An indestructible sword...no power in the world could separate it from its wielder. I know better than anyone, because it was me who made it, especially for the king of Domino. He then led the Company of Light, which struggled against the Ancestral Witches..."

Bloom fervently interrupts him:

"As the blacksmith of this magic sword, do you always sense its presence somewhere? After what you told me, by touching the sword, I will find my father!"

The large man shakes his head sadly.

"The sword is quiet. Precisely, I was fighting on your parents side, Miriam and Oritel when the Ancestral Witches took them away. Since then, I never stopped looking for them...in vain."

"But the magical dimension is so vast!"

"Bloom," Hagen insists, "You have to look the truth in the face: they are probably dead."

Shocked, the fairy stands still. She bursts into tears and rushes out of the office. She turns away from the Winx Club that had been waiting for her.

"Young ladies," Miss Faragonda says with much sadness, "Your friendship is very important to Bloom but I think that she needs a moment by herself. As for you, you have a grande ceremony to attend. Go prepare yourselves!"

A few hours later, in a magnificently decorated college, the students of the third year step forward onto the dais, under the applaud of their friends, their parents, and their boyfriends, the Specialists. Their studies at Alfea are finished and they will soon return to their home planet.

Recieving their diploma, a stone of harmony, the apprentice fairies become full-fledged fairies! Flora discovers that she can understand every single whisper of the plants of Magix... Tecna feels connected to every computer in the universe... Musa can hear all the music played no matter where, and even the secret song inside every person... Stella is in contact with each ray of light that baths the magical dimension... Layla perceives the presence of every waterdrop...

"Each one of you is now a good Guardian Fairy of her planet!" concludes the headmistress.

From a high terrace above, Bloom contemplates the scene with melancholy, her rabbit Kiko in her arms and her cat Ronron against her legs.

"My dear friends the Winx..." she murmurs.

"Hello, Bloom!" a gentle and masculine voice behind her says.

"Sky!"

The prince of Eraklyon jumps from his flying surfboard** while flying and slowly comes to wipe the tears of his love.

"The classes at Alfea, they're finished. But your life as a fairy continues, Bloom."

"Except every one of the Winx is the Guardian Fairy of her planet. And me, I am a princess without a kingdom! A fairy without people to protect! Ever since Domino had been destroyed when I was a baby."

Sky holds her tenderly in his arms.

"The Bloom I know would not give up so easily...Do not listen to this sad and lonely Hagen. What does your heart say, Bloom?"

At this instant, a powerful motor whirrs making them raise their heads. A vessel of the Eraklyon army stations itself above them. A gangway opens and a very beautiful young woman in uniform descends onto the terrace.

"Prince Sky," she says with firmness. "I was sure that I would find you here. We are awaiting for you."

"Uh... Give me five minutes?"

"Three seconds."

Sky turns to Bloom for a goodbye kiss.

"Who is this girl?" she asks in his ear.

"Don't worry, I will explain when return. I love you, Bloom. Don't forget that!"

* The author means these: (picture is from http://winx-pngs.blog.ont.pl/)
To me, they look like jewelled boxes but the author calls them "pierre d'harmonie."
** Some people call this his levaboard.
