Le Secret du Royaume Perdu: Chapter 4: The Book of Destiny

Saturday, June 5, 2010

The planet Domino looks like an immense frozen desert and lifeless, attacked by winds.

In the Specialists' ship, Sky embraces Bloom:

"You don't want to know where I have been, all this time?"

"You'll explain it to me later. I trust you, and I have to concentrate on our mission."

The lovers smile, and Bloom turns towards the window.

"Where can we find this Steep Mountain..."

Piloted by Timmy, the ship lands in the middle of a snow field. The snowmobiles* are brought out and everyone puts on a blizzard-resistant ski suit. Bloom slips on Daphne's mask.

"Unbelievable!"

Thanks to her sister's memories, the fairy discovers her planet like it had once been: covered in colourful flowers, with geothermal springs and, in the distance, active volcanoes. A happy and lively mass circulates between the sumptuous palace and an animated city centre...

"It's this way!"

The Winx Club and Specialists follow their friend to the middle of a frozen desert. The boys cannot help but race and do fancy manoeuvres on their snowmobiles. Suddenly, Bloom stops them:

"There! Look!"

At the summit of the mountain, sleeps a giant bird. Tecna consults her magical computer:

"The rock is a mythological bird. No one has ever proven its existence!"

The bird moves slightly and flutters its wings, like it would do on a nest. But in place of an egg, it sat on a palace!

"The Royal Library of Domino," Bloom explains, fascinated.

The Winx Club and Specialists need a lot of cunning and team spirit to approach the giant bird, climb and slip inside the interior of the palace. Timmy breaks his glasses. And fortunately Musa had succeeded to appease the bird with one of her harmonious songs!

Finally, they all enter the central chamber of the Library. On a pedestal, there is a thick and very old book: the Book of Destiny.

"Go, Bloom!" Flora gently says. "It's for you to discover your family history!"

Her heart beats, the fairy starts to turn the pages. But the book is incomprehensible: it is written in an unknown language. A friendly ghost appeared beside her.

"Princess Bloom, I was your father's secretary and I am the guardian of this book. It has been years that I awaited your visit!"

Thanks to the magic of the ghost, Lord Bartleby, the letters form pictures.

"Here is your parents, the king Oritel and the queen Miriam, on the day of their wedding..."

"How happy and trustful they look!"

"There, this is your big sister Daphne. And this baby, it's you, princess."

"You are both adorable!" Flora says softly.

"Can we see other pictures of baby Bloom?" Stella cries.

"Alas! My time is limited..."

"Then, quickly, what happened to my parents?" Bloom asks anxiously.

"Here, you see the Company of Light," Lord Bartleby continues.

"It's Miss Faragonda, this young woman?" Layla cries out. "She's so young!"

"Here is the terrible battle where they faced the Ancestral Witches in the Circle of Obsidian."

"And after, what became of them?"

The letters tries to form a new picture. But everything blurs.

"Alas, princess Bloom, not even the book has the answer.

"Does that mean they are...dead?"

"No... They are lost, that is all."

The Winx Club and Specialists exchange anxious stares. Their only way is a dead end!
