The royal secretary hesistates:
"It cites an ancient prophecy: At the crossroads of many roads, the demons of stone watch an icy abyss... A king without a crown will save a king without a kingdom... A new Company of Light will shine in the darkness. And what was once lost will be found."
"Nothing more on me?" Bloom cries.
"No, princess. Your destiny, it's up to you to write it."
The Winx Club and Specialists are captivated. Except for Riven, who is alone pulled by a quiet voice that murmurs his name. Suddenly, he is attacked by a swarm of bewitched insects. They sting him violently at the nape and he collapses, blinded!
Back at Alfea, the ex-students and their friends are welcomed back with open arms. Unconscious Riven is brought to the infirmary by Musa, Stella, Brandon and Sky. The doctor is quick to take care of their friend. The latter regains consciousness but his gaze has become strange...
Tecna, she is busy making a new pair of revolutionary glasses for Timmy: the lenses displays digital information.
During this time, Bloom, Flora and Layla recounts their adventure to Miss Faragonda.
"What is it, the Circle of Obsidian?" they ask.
"It is the entrance to place called Kannon,* where the three Ancestral Witches and their servant Mandragora live. Kannon is a choatic world filled with fear and sadness. Only cold-hearted beings could stay unscathed in that nightmarish place."
The headmistress sighs deeply:
"Alas, Bloom! Even if your parents had been trapped inside, they could not have survived!"
At that instant, a shock shakes the school, as violent as an earthquake! Miss Faragonda and her ex-students rushes to the windows. The protective gates of Alfea sways before it flies into splinters.
"Mandragora!" exclaims Miss Faragonda, horrified.
A disheveled witch rides a giant insect. While guiding her army of monsters, she throws her evilest spells on the school.
In the quad, some first year students flee, completely panicked: one of the monsters sent by Mandragora follows them! The professor Wizgiz** transforms into a mammoth and crushes the monster by sitting on top of it.
The professor Palladium is threatened by a giant worm, but Helia catches it with his lasso of energy.
Riven, Brandon, Sky, Timmy join their friend, soon followed by the whole Winx Club, Miss Faragonda and the blacksmith Hagen. Each uses their magical powers to contribute to the protection of Alfea.
After numerous and terrible battles, Miss Faragonda suddenly finds herself facing Mandragora.
"An old acquaintance! After my reunions with Hagen, it's the second time in days that the past reappears," the headmistress cries out.
"Ah, ah, ah," cackles the witch. "Beware, Faragonda! I am more powerful than before! The Ancestral Witches have given me their powers!"
"Return back to your abyss, cruel monster!" Faragonda screams, before fainting, exhausted.
Surrounded by the Winx Club who unleash their spells on her, Mandragora eventually gives up and disappears in a flash of black lightning.
After her escape, students, professors, the Winx Club and Specialists gather to take count after the attack. Many people are injured and a large portion of the school is destroyed. What a sad day for Alfea!
"I'm sorry," says Bloom with her head lowered. "I think that by looking for my parents that I have aroused the Ancestral Witches."
At that instant, a shower of sparkles falls on the school. Upon closer inspection, it is not sparkles, but...the pixies!***
"Hullo, Bloom!"
"Hi there, Layla! Flora, it's us!"
"Stella! Musa! Tecna, we're here!"
"Our bonded pixies!"**** Layla cries out, delighted.
"Friends, we have to help you rebuild Alfea!"
* I think the author made up Kannon. I think that there is a vein of irony in that: canon...Kannon?
** In French, he's apparently called Wizgyz.
*** Pixies are not called pixies in French (or Italian, I think). They are called mini-fées (mini-fate).
**** Layla actually says "Nos connexions parfaites!" which means "Our perfect connections!" I think she meant something along the lines of "Our other halves!" considering that the bond is between two beings, a fairy and a pixie.
