Le Secret du Royaume Perdu: Chapter 6: A world of sadness

Saturday, June 12, 2010

After many weeks of intense magical labour, the college of fairies is completely rebuilt, just as beautiful and happy as before Mandragora's attack.

Miss Faragonda rapidly recovers.

"In my life," she says to Bloom, "I've been in many battles. And finally, what matters to me, are the people that I fought with. Bloom, you have the chance to be part of a formidable team!"

A little later, the fairy confides to the Winx Club her decision that she had taken: to go to Kannon. By herself.

"Wait... Let me guess..." Flora says. "You don't want anyone to get hurt because of you?"

"Exactly."

"We started this adventure together," Musa retorts. "And we will finish this together, with a victory!"

The next day, the entire Winx Club finds themselves in the Specialists' ship.

The key that opens the world of Kannon had been retrieved by Lockette in the Tree of Portals. And Tecna and Timmy had charted the way to the Circle of Obsidian.

Sky tries to talk to Bloom privately, once more, but she is too preoccupied.

At the ship's windows, she contemplates an floating island in the middle of clouds. On this strange planet, upright lava rocks shine black, forming the Circle of Obsidian.* Six guards protect them.

Tecna types away on her magical computer.

"Fairy magic has no affect on them!"

"But what about our swords!" Brandon shouts.

Undergoing attack by the Specialists, the guards are drawn away from the Circle. Quickly, the Winx Club take advantage and sneak inside. They find a sinister well, one of inky blackness: Kannon.

Just before entering, Stella turns back to the boys who fight fiercely with the guards.

"Brandon dear, take care of yourself!"

"Sky," Bloom cries, "Be careful!"

Without further hesistation, the Winx jump into the well blindly...and find themselves in corridor with an oppressing atmosphere.

"Thanks, girls!" Stella exclaims. "Thanks to you, I discover all sorts of exotic places!"

Her humour is a real comfort in difficult situations. The frightening atmosphere was scaring the fairies.

"I feel my powers weakening," Musa says worried.

"We are lucky that we left the pixies back in the ship," Layla remarked. "This evil aura would have killed them!"

The passage ends with a new door. Layla approaches and places her hand on it. Something sticky gushes out and envelops her hand.

"Yuk!" Stella screams backing away, disgusted.

"It's hot and it tickles... Nothing worst than that," Layla affirms.

She succeeds to pull herself from the gluey substance and crosses over.

At this instant, Mandragora appears!

Valliantly, the Winx start to fight against the witch despite the weakening of their powers. By chance, the Specialists soon rejoin them.

"Quickly, Riven! Take the key to Kannon!" Mandragora cries suddenly.

Taking advantage of their surprise, Riven throws himself at Bloom and robs her of the key.

Immediately, Sky understands that his friend is under the influence of the Ancestral Witches. He hits Riven's hand, who drops the key. Sky throws the key to Bloom. The traitor profits to throw himself at Sky, sword in hand. But Musa intervenes and it is her who is hit and gravely hurt.

As soon as Bloom caught the key, rocks start to fall on her. She screams in terror...

...and finds herself alone inside Kannon, desperate. She had just enough time to see Musa crumble in Stella's arms. And what if her friend dies of her injuries? And how could Riven betray them?

* Think of a black Stonehenge but on a floating island.
